The Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride Cymbal is designed with one of Japan's top drummer's, Akira Jimbo, to broaden any drummer's artistic expressions. If features an unlathed, buffed center for well-defined stick attack and strong bell, along with an outside lathed edge for increased spread and crashability. Great for both recording and live situations, these hybrid ride cymbals create both brilliant and dark sound dynamics depending on where the cymbal is played - the unlathed, brilliant finish of the inner half or the traditionally finished lathing on the outer half.
The unlathed section also helps control the wash and sustain. In Akira's own words, "Maximum versatility is the main idea with the Hybrid series. I worked with Zildjian to design a line of cymbals where brilliance and darkness co-exist. I think the sound we came up with sets the new standard for the 21st Century."
