Brazilian Drums for Samba
You don’t have to be from South America to appreciate the authentic ethnic sound of innovative and portable Brazilian drums. Percussionists the world over must agree. Brazilian drums such as the resonant Pandiero, the sharply-tuned Tamborim and the deep-sounding Surdo bass drum have traditionally been associated with samba, bossa nova and Carnival music, but they can now be found propelling the beat in all kinds of musical genres from rock to reggae.
At The Drum Works, you’ll find all three of these Brazilian drums, each offering up its own unique sound. Like to a tambourine, the Pandiero can be shaken or struck on the head and has metal jingles that are fast and articulate. The handheld Tamborim is the Brazilian version of the classic tambourine and produces a remarkably bright and voluminous sound. The Surdo delivers the essential bass notes required for samba’s classic 2/4 rhythms.
