Congas are single-headed, staved Cuban drums of African descent, originally made from hollowed out logs or recycled barrels. Prevalent in Latin, salsa, reggae, funk and some pop music, congas are capable of producing hundreds of rhythm flavors including calypso, bomba, rumba and bembe. You don’t need sticks or brushes to create all these different sounds. Just play the congas with your fingers and/or your palms while seated or standing.
